I utilize technology as mush as possible in the courses I teach as I find it increases the effectiveness of my instruction and student engagement. I also have a Canvas courses for my classes, so I was happy to see that Dominican University uses Canvas.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I received my undergraduate from Miami University in Business. I worked in marketing for five years before deciding to obtain my master's degree in Secondary Education. I am able to relate many of my real-world business experiences to the classes I currently teach.
While taking EDU 776, I am also finishing up my Teacher Leadership master's from Concordia University.
In my free time, I love spending time with my husband and two year old son. We enjoy going for bike rides, going to the library and park, and just exploring the world. Life with a two year old is an exciting and exhausting adventure! But I wouldn't trade it for the world!
I look forward to learning and working with each of you.

Welcome Amy! You sure are busy! For the computer applications course you taught is it based on business applications such as Excel? Speaking of which, as a high school teacher do you use Google Sheets or focus on Microsoft projects?
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole! My school is a 1:1 school and all students have Chromebooks. However, in Computer Applications we primarily use Microsoft Office and then teach the students Google Docs, Sheets, Slides. Students can see that their skills are transferable. In my Accounting class we use Excel.
DeleteHi Amy! Enjoy your time with your son- 2 is a great age. They're open to learning so much and soak it all up. My kids are bigger now, but I just spent a weekend with my 2 year old nephew.
ReplyDeleteI'm really amazed at the diversity in this class. What an exciting group to learn with and from. Nice to meet you!
